![]() However, as with many things that are worthwhile, there is a downside to getting dentures. Simply put, you will have to spend some time getting used to having them. Here are a few things that can help you during the transition. Ease Your Way In Some people who get dentures immediately start wearing them all day, every day. This might sound like a good idea to you, but the fact of the matter is that it's anything but. Your gum tissue will need time to get used to having the dentures pressing up against it. Over time, you will be used to your dentures, and you can probably wear them for longer periods of time. However, at least at the outset, it's a good idea to take your dentures out frequently to give yourself a break. Just make sure that you keep them moist when they are not in your mouth. Choose a Good Denture AdhesiveA good denture adhesive will reduce the likelihood that the dentures will slide around in your mouth. This will keep you from developing sores on your gum tissue. So, when you get ready to choose a dental adhesive, keep in mind that you want it to prevent any slippage whatsoever. At first using dentures may seem to be a challenge. But take it slow, and you'll be pleased with how well you adapt to having them. |
