![]() With so many people turning to us for dentures, implants and bridges, we wanted to take some time to address one of the more common issues that denture wearers face; ill-fitting dentures and the problems that accompany that issue. How Do You Know That Your Dentures Don't Fit?Sometimes it's easy for you to know that your dentures aren't fitting properly. Perhaps they're falling out often or making you gag. Your dentures should fit snugly on your gums and not slide around, so if they're falling out or causing you to react by gagging, the chances are, they no longer fit.Another side effect of ill-fitting dentures are sore gums, which can include swelling, soreness, discomfort and even infection. If your dentures are causing you pain in your gums that is not easily relieved with a topical oral numbing ointment or a good brushing, please give us a call. Dentures need to be readjusted and realigned to your mouth on a regular basis. Just because your dentures fit a year ago, doesn't necessarily mean that they'll fit perfectly today. This is because the lack of teeth causes the jaw bone to shrink. Over time, this will begin to change the shape of your mouth. We can help you maintain a good fit with your dentures through regular office visits. Calling us with any problems, pain or discomfort is always a good idea; we're here to help you. If you or a loved one is struggling with dentures that don't fit, don't give up. Please take the time to come in and see us so that we can check for infection and help you troubleshoot the issues you may be facing. |
