Have You Ever Heard of Flipper Teeth?

They are a type of tooth replacement that is used to replace a missing front tooth, and while they aren't usually the best way to correct missing teeth, there are some scenarios in which you might choose them.

The Uses of Flipper Teeth

Most dentists only recommend the use of flipper teeth as temporary replacements. They may be used to hold a tooth in place while an implant is fusing to the bone, preventing the rest of the teeth from shifting into the empty spot and allowing your smile to look as aesthetically pleasing as possible.

However, there are some cases where dental patients may choose to make flipper teeth their final restoration, especially when cost is a major concern.

The Pros and Cons of Flipper Teeth

If you are weighing the pros and cons of flipper teeth, there are a few in each category that you'll want to consider. Cost is the primary advantage, as they cheaper than a variety of other options and can be made quite quickly. They are also lightweight, so it is often easy for people to get used to them.

There are a few reasons that you might want to choose a tooth replacement option other than flipper teeth. These restorations aren't very strong, so they can break easily.

They are also unhygienic because the gums are smothered and saliva cannot clean them. Without caring for them properly, flipper teeth can be a major risk factor in developing tooth decay and gum disease.
